I'm back from OBS, on the whole, it was a really life changing experience. I really learn alot from it, and most of all, I wouldn't mind going for OBS again, it was great, the food, the friends and especially our instructor, Birin. (:

Day 1
I woke up at 5 in the morning, dad fetched me to school, my bag was extremely heavy. I brought alot of extra stuff. Reached school, Saw everyone in the foyer, it was raining! And thus, everyone went to the hall, I sat with sarah and fangying. Great to be able to talk to them, we checked all our stuff, and I realised my torchlight didn't work. In the end, everything worked out fine yeah, the smaller spare one I had, was super bright.

We left for the bus going to pungol jetty, cam-whored quite abit with gracia's camera! It was really great to be with BB for a last time before OBS. Almost everyone slept on the bus there, so tired from waking up so early in the morning, and besides, OBS wasn't going to be easy. After that, we reached, and starting playing games! We played concentration with different actions, really fun! And we also tried playing murderer! Ended up, there were too many murders! (: Then, all of us managed to get onto the same boat, we had quite abit of fun too, Caryn kept winking at me! And, thus I decided to become the detective and catch her! So funny! We were being lame the whole way yeah. Alex was staring huh! (: But it was great fun. When we reached, we were split up into our different watches[groups], surprisingly, I was with Xiangyi, I was really happy! Worst nightmare was to get into a group with people I didn't know at all. It was great yeah.

Then, we went to our store to put our bags. Then we played ice-breaker games, and ate lunch! Lunch was alright, bread and an apple. We also seperated out all our rationed food. It was pretty good, there was variety and everything! Alot of buns as well. After that, we packed the store. I folded the tents with Slyvie. (: I'm pretty good at it! (: Though the tents are SUPER HUGE and HEAVY as well. But it was great yeah, but pretty tiring in the hot sun. After that, I can't really remember what happened, but mostly was alright, we cooked dinner, rice with sausages and beans and peanuts. The rice was hard, but still edible yeah. Then, we pitched tents, for the first time, and we had to meet Birin, we watched stars, and planes go by. Really interesting sight. We talked quite abit too, Birin told us what was going to happen for the next few days. We were going to camp 1 the next day. We started out at camp2 yeah. After that, went back to the tents. Tried to sleep but I couldnt really sleep, I kept sitting up, lying down, and switching sleeping positions. There were other people talking as well, the instructors had to come down to tell them to stop talking. Xiangyi slept talked. Me and Jesslyn were stunned/shocked! She screamed out I WANT MUMMY, and blabbered nonsense. I was really surprised. She suddenly talked a string of nonsense, sat up, yawned, and went back to sleep. Me and Jesslyn stared at each other, puzzled, and in shock! Haha, it was really amazing! In the end, I think all in all, I only slept for about half an hour.

Day 2
Woke up, packed our bags for the next day while eating breakfast. Didn't really know what to bring along. I ended up bringing alot of extra stuff that made my bag extremely heavy. ): Then, we started our hike to camp 2. On the way, we had this activity. We had to carry a casualty along with us on an obstacle within a time limit of 1 hour and 10mins. And if we acomplished it, we'll take the shorter route to camp 1 instead of a longer one. So, we started out. The whole thing seemed really impossible, and time kept going on, and we kept restarting as people fall, but it was alright. We persisted on, keep trying, and in the end, we made it. I held theresa's hand all the way. We were both shaking like crazy! The wooden beam was scary, and no one wanted to fall down and waste the effort of the people in front carrying the casuality yeah. We did it! (: Happy, and we took the shorter route, which was pretty long too. But, yeah, shorter than the longer one I suppose. (: It started raining as soon as we finished the activity, fortunate for us. Or else, the wooden beams would be super slippery and stuff. Then, we reached camp 2, rested quite abit at the walls. (: It was the best sleep ever. The whole of cousteau rested against the wall and fell asleep before Birin clapped his hands really looudly to wake us up for climbing. Scary, but I miss it. ): Ah, rock climbing was fun, compared to the hike in the morning. Then, we had food prepared for us in the canteen. Birin tricked us, and said we were going to sleep in the bunks. I really believed, and was over the moon. End up, he was just joking (!!!!) Okay, I should have known. We went to pitch tents, then dinner. I managed to bathe before meeting. Then, we had the briefing for the expedition the next day. We were going to row boats to camp3. Then, we started to pack for the next day. Then went to sleep, this time, Xiangyi, moaned in her sleep! Amazing, I managed to sleep, really tired after everything that happened that day.

Day 3
Woke up, unpitched tents in the cold, and I really needed to shit! It was bad, and I was shivering really horribly. Then, I survived, continuing with an early morning, packing, brushing teeth. We then had to bring everything to the jetty and move the row boats down. The rowboats were super heavy and a lot of teamwork was needed to be able to move them to the jetty for launching. The journey was alright on the whole. I started shouting different multiples, and everyone followed, it was a really great experience for us. Oh, our watch was split up into two. I was with Theresa’s tent. It was alright. Got wet, and we couldn't bathe. ): But it was alright yeah. I changed on the roads with trina! I was wearing an orange bra la, like wth. But, fortunately, no bikers came by while we were changing. We didn't even use the ponchos eh, just changed in the open. I guess it was alright. This reminds me of what happened in sec1, that was in the past la. Anyway, after that, used quite abit of powder to dry up, and to feel fresher. Then, we set of for our campsite. Sang with Theresa and Carissa and Birin at the back, really boosted my morale. Birin kept asking if I was alright. Cos I was really really burnt, and thus I looked really red! I guess, though I was feeling really exhausted and everything, I can't possibly give up, and make someone else carry the stuff. Everyone else, already had alot to carry already. I guess it wasn’t really fair for me to give up. After that, when we reached camp 3, Birin tricked us, and said that it wasn’t the right place. Ended up, it was correct. And it was all a joke. I really believed! And, now, I really miss his jokes. ): We were the second watch who reached, and it was great, we had a lot of free time. The last watch reached pretty late, I guess they might have gotten lost or took a lot of breaks and stuff. Our watch was super good. I love you, Cousteau! We had mass briefing after that, it was about the next day. We were going to kayak across ubin. I guess it’s much better than going around it. But we had to pass obstacles. The mudbank and the road. These meant that we had to get out of the Kayaks and carry them across before getting into the water again. Then, we talked quite a bit in a circle. Talked to Trina quite a bit as well, lovely talks at night. Then, Birin told us the char kuay teow story! Scary like crazy. In the end, it was all a joke! Ah, it sounded so real, seriously. Then, we talked a bit more, pretty personal stuff, then everyone went to sleep.

Day 4
Woke up at 4, COLD like crazy, had to do duty to chase wild boars away. Xiangyi and I kept banging the sticks, then lum shouted, ‘Stop hitting the sticks!’, and ‘Shut up la!’, then so funny eh! We didn’t know what to do! End up, Birin told us to shine the torch. He’s damn nice, compared to the other instructors. I felt really dirty the whole morning. Didn’t have the chance to bathe at all, felt so dirty! I didn’t brush teeth also! In fact, nobody did! I tried to pee in the sand, but failed to do so! The pee couldn’t come out at all, I guess the position was super weird, and I wasn’t used to it at all yeah! After that, we set of for kayaking across ubin. It was alright on the whole. Just that, the sitting position was super uncomfortable and stuff, and I wasn’t used to it once again. Tri-yaked with Xiangyi and Jesslyn, it was alright. We had lots of fun the the sun, really. At the end, though we were really far behind, Birin joined us, and pushed us on. He even gave me a snail! (: Ah, I really miss OBS a lot. Birin sang along as well. After that, we reached camp 2, finally! We packed up and everything. Then it was jetty jump, I was the first in line. Really scared and stuff, but with Birin behind me, constantly giving my encouragement and words of wisdom. Ah, that was what that made me jump. The jump was alright. JUST THAT I GAVE OUT A SCREAM. And all the water went into my lungs! And into my ears as well, I shouldn’t have screamed, seriously! AH, but it was a lot of fun. (: I would do it again, if I have the chance! After that, we went to bathe and pack up. We cooked dinner as well. We also made a song for Birin, the sweetest song ever. We met him after everything, and had a really long and good talk after that at the jetty once again, under the wonderful black canvas of bright stars. The sight was really wonderful. Ah! I miss ubin also as well. After the talk, we sang the song for him. Everyone started crying/tearing. I guess the atmosphere was there. Then, talked to trina and Rachel in trina’s tent for quite a bit before finally going back to sleep. I squeezed in, back into my tent. Xiangyi said she put her legs on mine? I didn’t know! Haha, I was so tired, I slept all the way.

Day 5
I woke up early next morning. It was FRIDAY, the last day of OBS. Everything seems to pass really fast, I wouldn’t mind turning time back and going for OBS once again! It was real great fun! Woke up early, unpitched tent, super cold once again! Xiangyi and Jesslyn went off earlier to shit! I guess dinner the previous night was really good! We finished all the can food! Me and Jingli stayed back to unpitch the tent. Then, we went to brush teeth and also to washup and pack up! We had to pack up the stall as well. The last day passed really fast. We sang ‘my love’ by westlife to Birin as well. Nice song, and a great song for the wonderful moment! Really suited that moment back then, then we had one last long talk, and we got back all our prized possessions! I got back my phone, started to sms people, and family! It was great to have my phone back, it means a lot to me, I realized. After that, we got our photos and souvenirs from OBS. I got two shirts! (: Going to wear them soon, I really deserve to wear them! (: Ah, they’ll remind me of the OBS journey and what I’ve learn from OBS. I’ll never forget OBS, the friends, and especially Birin, the best instructor, ever! Seriously, everything passed really fast, then it was time to go back. We forgot our last goodbye to Birin. Now, we’ll never see him again. I guess it’s not really the end that matters, but most of all it’s the journey. I really wonder how they managed to impact our lives so greatly through these 5 days! Even school teachers are unable to do that through out the whole year. I guess Birin’s really the best of best. (: On the boat/bus back, cried quite abit with Rachel. We really missed everything at OBS, the food, the smell, BIRIN, the company! Ah, I love OBS. (:

All in all, it was really a good experience, and it made me realize how fortunate I am, and how much one can do with teamwork and perseverance. And it also let me learn a lot more things. I guess it’s really a good course, really!
